It couldn’t be any more convenient for me to get a haircut then to go see Jessica at JD Nail Spa and Salon in Hiddenbrooke Plaza. I always call her before I go, but she almost always tells me to come right over even though I tell her my schedule is very flexible. She clearly thrives on staying busy: multi-tasking by greeting arrivals, answering the phone, and directing the other employees as she cuts my locks.
Her clientele is mainly Hiddenbrooke residents and she tells me that’s because there’s no “drive by” traffic in the small parking lot. She shared how nervous she was when the shop first opened because she didn’t know anyone. But she says people soon began arriving and the shop stays busy. The shop seemed especially hard hit during the pandemic, but Jessica maintains such an upbeat attitude.
My wife, Tiger Adolf, also goes to JD for her haircuts and color. She says Jessica is always quick to schedule, even for a lengthy process. Jessica has great attention to detail, always having color and cut notes from last time, and a willingness to discuss changes (or talk Tiger off the ledge, as needed). It’s fun overhearing the discussions there from people of all ages enjoying manicures and pedicures from Michelle and other staff. You can tell that many are repeat customers. Tiger says its easy to see that the staff at JD forms relationships with their clients and takes extra special care with elderly customers.
We both appreciate having the salon close by, and we’re glad to see the neighborhood supporting it.
