I’ve been a theater geek since elementary school when I was cast as Snoopy in “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” My favorite role is “audience member” and there are lots of local theater options for folks like me. We were season ticket holders at Lucky Penny Productions in Napa even before our son performed there in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” We’ve seen “Hamilton” and other Broadway touring companies in downtown San Francisco, but we have also enjoyed shows at local stages, including the Solano College Theatre in Fairfield, Campbell Theater in Martinez, and the Novato Theater Company. Most recently, we saw “Art” at the Winters Theater Company, and we have tickets for “Silent Sky” which is the next show at Lucky Penny.
I performed in several community theater productions when I lived in Colorado, but have never acted in this area. Until now. I auditioned and earned a role in “Tony and Tina’s Wedding” to be presented by the Winters Theater Company at the Green River Brewing and Taproom in Winters on May 5th, 6th and 7th, 2023. The show is largely improvisational with lots of opportunity for audience participation as guests at Anthony Nunzio and Valentina Vitale’s fraught wedding in all its tacky and hilarious glory. Following the church service is the reception where the audience joins the wedding party and their bickering families for a buffet dinner, toasts, various calamities, and wedding cake. I’ll play Vinnie “Cadillac of Caterers” Black, a fading standup comedian who is the catering hall manager and reception emcee. Show tickets include dinner catered by Green River Brewing. Details and ticket information for Tony and Tina’s Wedding are at www.winterstheatre.org or call 530-795-4014.
UPDATE on April 23, 2023: The cast posed for publicity photos last week Can you tell how much fun we’re having. I hear over a dozen Hiddenbrooke neighbors have bought tickets for the show. Thanks for the vote of confidence. You will be entertained!
